Trade Update: US Section 338 & Canadian retaliatory tariffs

US imports
The US Section 338 tariff on Canadian is in effect as of 12:01 a.m. ET on August 22, 2026. Duty is assessed on the country of origin, not the country a shipment ships from and it stacks with the Section 301 forced-labor tariff that applies to the majority of goods from Canada as well as any other standard import duties.
Canada imports
Canada's retaliatory tariffs are in effect as of 12:01 a.m. ET on September 8, 2026. Canada has imposed retaliatory tariffs of 15%, 25%, or 50% across 648 US-origin products. These tariffs are included in Dutify's duty estimates for affected goods. A full list of the HS codes impacted is available here.
