Low-value GST settings

Learn how Dutify helps you stay compliant with tax regulations by applying GST on low-value shipments when your sales exceed destination based thresholds.

If you sell into Australia, New Zealeand or Singapore you may be required to collect and remit GST on low-value shipments. Dutify provides a setting to help you stay compliant with these tax regulations.

Do I need to enable these settings?

By default, Dutify respects the local GST de minimis rules and does not apply GST to shipments under this value. However, if your business meets the below thresholds, you are legally required to collect GST on low-value shipments below the de minimis.

Australia

The Australian Tax Office (ATO) requires businesses that sell more than AU$75,000 in a 12-month period into Australia to register, collect, and remit GST. This applies specifically to shipments below the de minimis threshold (currently AU$1,000).

New Zealand

If you sell or project to sell more than NZ$60,000 to New Zealand consumers in a 12-month period, you need to collect and remit GST with Inland Revenue on shipments below the de minimis threshold (currently NZ$1,000).

Singapore

If you sell or expect to sell more than S$100,000 of B2C low-value goods and/or remote services to customers in Singapore in a 12-month period, and your annual global turnover exceeds S$1 million, you must collect and remit GST with Inland Revenue on on shipments below the de minimis threshold (currently S$400).

How Dutify handles this

  • Default behavior: Dutify ignores GST for shipments below the de minimis threshold.
  • With low value tax enabled: Dutify will apply GST to all shipments to that country, regardless of whether they fall below the de minimis.

This ensures that landed cost calculations correctly include GST when required by the local tax authorities.

How to enable these settings

  1. Login to your account.
  2. Go to Settings > API Access and find the low value tax section.
  3. For each country that you qualify, toggle the setting to Enable.
  4. Save configuration.

Once enabled, Dutify will calculate GST on all shipments to that country, regardless of value.
